Skin Friendly Ingredients

Product labelling can be confusing. Choosing toxic-free skincare products can be equally confusing, especially when they have scientific names. To help you make sense of ingredients that you will find listed on your Botáni products, we have provided an ingredient glossary. It includes the official INCI Name (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) which you find on the labels, the common name and its general description.

All ingredients Botáni uses are from the botanical world, these are certifed organic ingredients accredited withe OFC, ACO (Australian bodies) and EcoCert approved. (EcoCert France).

Glossary of terms

Anti-oxidants- neutralise free radicals. Antioxidants scavenge the free radicals from the body cells, and prevent or reduce the damage caused by oxidation.

PEG- Polyethylene glycol is a humectant commonly used in cosmetics, is a by-product of petroleum production.

Surfactant- detergent, cleaning agent

Emulsifier- binds the water and oil in a formulation, what binds the product together

Astringent- tones pores of skin

Humectant- attracts moisture from the air to hydrate the skin, keeps the product moist

Emollient- moisturiser, softens and soothes the skin

Emulsion stabiliser- binds product together, stabilises the product
